Rough on purpose — square footage tells you a space's area, not its perimeter, and baseboard follows the walls. A 10×10 room and a 5×20 room are both 100 sq ft with perimeters 10 ft apart. Good for early budgeting; measure a room below for an exact number.

For a 12 by 14 foot room with two doorways that is 52 feet of wall, less 6 feet of openings, plus 10% — about 51 feet to buy.
