We have come a long way from the dull and gray cement flooring that we were used to. As the days go by we are creating more ways to enhance and add beauty to our polished concrete flooring. Aside from the staining and adding color aggregate or glass by arranging it to create a design, we can now have a concrete engraved. Our outdoor cement can look beautiful with an permanent engraved design.
Yes, we do see the beauty of polished concrete. Are they cold or damp on our feet?
Well yes, concrete can be cold and damp just the same as ceramic tiles or stone flooring. Concrete has a thermal property that gives the ability to store and radiate heat. You can store and radiate heat by embedding radiant heating cables in concrete the floors.
This thermal property of concrete flooring can be seen in summer or when we have a warm weather. The cooling effect of the concrete floor can cut your air condition cost, therefore having an environmental benefit too.
Another environmental friendly benefit to having polished concrete flooring is in the winter time. The polished concrete flooring can store and radiate heat when you use your fire place. If you have a solar radiation system entering your house then this too can keep your rooms warms. In the end having polished concrete can lower the heating cost.
