How to Care for your Tile Floor
Regular cleaning and maintenance of your floor tile is advised in order for it to be in top shape always. This article is written to provide the viewers on tips and tricks on how to properly maintain and clean your ceramic tile flooring at home. You will find here that the cleaning tips are quite very easy to do, which only always requires preventive maintenance versus spending a lot when you have to purchase a whole new set of tile flooring.
First tip: See to it that you sweep or vacuum your floor regularly. Regular dusting and removing of debris and dirt from your floor will prevent it from settling in the grout which will make it harder to remove after a few years. Do this regularly especially if you have a toddler in your house. Remove toys or other objects that may easily collect dirt. Place pads under the feet of your furniture pieces to prevent scratching the tile surface.
Second tip: Wash your floor using soap and water at least once a week. By doing this, you will remove a weeks worth of spills, dirt and grime. It is also advisable to wash the surface with water to prevent a thin film of detergent build up. Scrub the affected areas with a gentle scrubber or mop, using an old toothbrush to remove the grime in grout areas.
Third tip: Always use silicone based (transparent) grout sealers to seal in the stain or color of your grout and prevent it from fading. Avoid using cleaning solution that contains bleach as it can discolor the color of your grout and make it look uneven. Wipe spills immediately using a damp cloth for food stain and a mixture of hot water and soap solution on damp cloth for grease or oil stain.
Fourth tip: Never use harsh cleaning agents for your floor as it may discolor or damage the sheen out of your glazed tile. Protect yourself while wearing tight rubber gloves all throughout the cleaning process.
