Rugs You Can Purchase for Your Home

by Kyle B Wilson

Many people think of rugs as being boring or old fashion decorative floor coverings. However, the fact is that they are a functional and creative way to liven up almost any room. The wide selection of modern colors, patterns and designs will ensure that anyone can find and buy a rug that looks fantastic in their home.

The difference between a rug and carpet is the size. Rugs are smaller pieces of carpet that are less than 40 square feet in size. One advantage of using a rug is that their size makes them portable so you can take them with you when you move house.

These flooring coverings come in all sort of different types and measurements. However, the popular types include bathroom, braided, outdoor and shag rugs. Each type has a different use and a way of being made.

Shag rugs were popular during the 1960's and get their name because they have a shaggy pile. This high pile is created by having the fiber loops left untouched when it is created. These types of rugs look and feel great beneath bare feet.

Everyone has used a bathroom rug before. They are a way to protect you from slipping on a wet surface as you get out of the shower or bath. You may think that bathroom rugs are an boring accessory for the bathroom but the new modern designs make them a great and cheap way to revitalize the look of a bathroom.

One traditional way to make a rug is to sew braided material together to create an artistic floor covering. This is called a braided rug and has been around for over 200 years. They are often colorful and great looking coverings which can only be made by hand.

Bathroom rugs are probably found in most - if not - all bathrooms. They use to be plain and boring but recently they have become a fashion accessory for the bathroom and are starting to be taken very seriously among decorators. They help to prevent accidents by providing a non-slippery and water absorbing surface to stand on when you step out of the shower.

One of the most important things to consider when buying a rug is whether you can afford exactly what you want. The cost will vary according to a number of factors including the quality of material it is made from, whether it is hand or machine made, the size and pattern.

While choosing a rug can be a difficult choice, actually purchasing one is very simple with so many outlets stocking them. There are stores that specialize in rugs but you can often find the same types cheaper online from places like eBay and Amazon.
