Polished Concrete a Choice for Homes

by Mercie Hallow

Sometime ago the only choice for flooring materials are carpets, hardwood and ceramic tiles. Carpets are usually used in bedrooms and living rooms though they are not limited there. Carpets are seen in varied colors, shapes and sizes. They are used in spaces where noise should not be present and relaxation is encouraged.

Ceramic tiles are used in areas of the house where it is always wet. Kitchen areas and bathrooms are the places where we can often see the use of ceramic tiles. Ceramic tiles come in different unique designs that make it flexible to use. Hardwood floors are also a favorite because of its aesthetic appeal on the eye. Hardwood floors are flexible, dynamic and fun to use.

Polished concrete is a best choice when it comes to home floors. Homeowners owe it to the sheen and gloss a polished concrete possesses. A room is always a beautiful glow if its floor is polished. Homes will also save a lot on electricity for a polished concrete floor reflects back the light from the lighting fixtures in the ceiling. It is also best to use in industrial places and areas where a lot of light needs to be present.

When designing a home with an industrial look as a theme, a polished concrete floor is the best material to choose. Working with an industrial concept requires the original finish of the structural materials in the house. Through this, the floor can retain its original concrete color with a sheen enhancement that is definitely gorgeous!

An advantage of polished concrete is seen through the option to carry a design just like in tiled flooring. The only difference is that an uneven and undisturbed surface is seen on polished concrete. The ceramic tile flooring possesses grid-like appearance.
