You Don't Need Nails for Concrete Polishing
My friends are under the impression that I'm an expert in polished, concrete floors. I have no idea why, but I suppose it has something to do with me recently having renovated my home. The concrete polish just caught their attention, and they thought that Mr. DIY me did it by myself. Of course, I wasn't the one who did it; I just surfed the internet to look for a contractor near where I live. Still, they believe that I have joined the Freemasons or something similar. They even think I know a secret handshake.
One of those friends asked me to come over to his place a week ago. I asked why, and he said it was because he was considering having his own concrete floor polished. Even though I recommended the contractor that I know, he seemed to trust me a lot better, and said that I should take a look before he pays anyone to come over.
The first that I noticed when I got there was the carpet covering the whole floor. Now, he told me to go there to inspect the concrete underneath, so clearly these things had to go. But then, the carpet was bolted to the floor with nails. Thus, simply checking the concrete floor necessitated something drastic.
My friend wanted to go through with it, though, so okay! We carefully removed the carpeting and stored it in the attic. Finally able to see the concrete floor, my heart sank. It had numerous imperfections, the most prominent of which was the chipped parts where the nails used to be. Also worth mentioning was the white, unsightly layer above the concrete.
Well, it was at least easy to convince my friend to call the contractor after that. It's good to have a professional opinion, so I went back there a few days later with the guy.
The contractor's facial expression was worrying. Apparently, even he was skeptical about having to polish my friend's concrete floor. He said that it was doable, but it requires working all the imperfections into a pattern. My friend was eager to try it out.
