What should I look for when buying oriental rugs?
Answered By Fran Fratelli, Editor
There are different factors to think of when
buying oriental rugs. However, there are two
concerns to consider before doing your
purchase. Firstly, you should know if the
area rugs were hand or machine made. Oriental
rugs made by hand are usually the top choice
of most consumers because they were hand
woven. In short, each strands of yarn has
been tied manually by hand.
Secondly, determine the quality of weave
because it can be deeply influenced by the
thickness of the material used. The greater
the knots per square inch, the finer the
weave. Likewise, the greater the count, the
more expensive the oriental rug will be.
